16″ Ventilated 415B Aluminum-Bronze disc w/ stainless steel and Almag mechanical tensioning adjustment assembly. Adjustment wheel equipped w/ fine threads. 3000 ft-lbs torque delivered by self-moderating rubber insert bushing (U.S. Patent # 4,325,552). Disc/hub machined from one casting to ensure exact alignment. 5/16″ Diameter chamfered clean out holes provided in radial pattern along both sides of disc. MG-Bronze bolt-together housing w/ free-axis MG-Bronze caliper and stainless steel pivot pins. RF-38 Non-asbestos brake material w/ 48 sq-in combined pad area. Knurled pad holder surface to maximize coefficient of friction between pad and holder casting.
2 1/4″ 8000 lbs galvanized reel bar w/ AL-Bronze positioning collar w/ lifting hook. Cast steel power arm w/ lifting hook disengages from brake w/o disturbing tension setting. Dove-tail connection between brake and reel bar w/ MG-Bronze reel bar saddles. Self-retaining bronze latch pin (U.S. Patent # 5,228,656) locks reel bar in saddle.
Capable of tensioning 5000′ of wire at full braking torque up to 18 RPM. Operating ambient temperature range of -20 to +105 degrees Fahrenheit Rotor and pad surface to withstand temperatures up to 525 degrees Fahrenheit. Average pad life at 50% of maximum torque and speed is 4500 revolutions – approximately 10 miles w/ 48″ diameter reel.

Model 1000-2S 2-Speed Retriever
2600 ft-lbs torque @ 17 RPM and 1300 ft-lbs torque @ 34 RPM – 2250 PSI/8 GPM input. Manual speed/torque control actuation. Single lever MG-Bronze hub disengagement from braking unit when not required. Nothing to disassemble. Holds line tension and dumps to tank in neutral. Hydraulic 3-section flow divider provides division of three equal flows at full system pressure. All Retrievers can be run simultaneously and independently without affecting speed or pressure to other units. Maximum section pressure differential is 1000 PSI. Maximum speed of each retriever is based on one-third total flow output of hydraulic power source.
One unit installed each location. Full feathering, bi-directional, centralized valves provide available speed and torque to any single retriever.
Model 8230 coupler attaches to reel bar via quick pin and provides a standard 2 7/16″ bayonet shaft allowing the use of all standard capstans and take-up reels – 21 lbs.
